How a toughened glass cooker hood splashback is made
The cooker hood splashback is cut from a large sheet of glass, finished (polished edges, cut-outs, holes), then toughened in a toughening furnace. It is then painted in our workshop in the colour of your choice, or supplied clear. Placed behind a gas or electric hob, it must be made of toughened glass: around five times stronger than ordinary glass, it withstands a temperature difference of around 200 °C.
A back-painted cooker hood splashback is bonded to the wall with the suitable solvent-free adhesive that we offer; a clear cooker hood splashback is fixed with holes or on a rail. Made in France, it is compatible with all types of hob.
Glass cooker hood splashbacks: choosing the colour
Soft shades (beige, pearl grey, satin white) for a sleek, bright look, intense colours (red, blue, green, yellow) for a kitchen full of character, or classic black: back-painted glass cooker hood splashbacks are available in the full range of RAL, Pantone and NCS colours. White and black, the most popular, are offered at a more attractive price. Matt cooker hood splashbacks are made from a frosted glass panel; clear cooker hood splashbacks can be configured with our clear splashback and cooker hood splashback configurator.

Frequently asked questions about glass cooker hood splashbacks
What size of cooker hood splashback should I choose?
Take the width of your cooker hood (most often 60, 90 or 120 cm) and measure the height between the worktop and the bottom of the cooker hood, generally 50 to 75 cm. Subtract 2 to 3 mm for the joint. If your size is not in the list, the configurator makes the cooker hood splashback to the millimetre.
What thickness for a glass cooker hood splashback?
6 mm: this is the minimum thickness behind a hob, and it is suitable for all standard sizes. Cooker hood splashbacks are always made of toughened glass.
Is a glass cooker hood splashback suitable for a gas hob?
Yes, provided it is made of 6 mm toughened glass and placed 12 to 15 cm from the rear edge of the burners, 10 cm minimum. Toughened glass withstands a temperature difference of around 200 °C; the paint, on the back, is not exposed to the flame.
How do I fit a glass cooker hood splashback?
A back-painted cooker hood splashback is bonded to the wall with a solvent-free adhesive compatible with the paint, applied in dabs; stand it on spacers, leave to dry for 24 hours, then seal the joint with silicone. A clear cooker hood splashback is fixed with holes or on a rail, as adhesive would remain visible through the glass.
Which standard does a toughened glass cooker hood splashback meet?
The glass is safety glass toughened to European standard EN 12150: if it breaks, it shatters into small, blunt pieces. Back-painted glass also falls under standard EN 16477 for painted glass for indoor use and has a safety film on the back.
Can a socket be added to a cooker hood splashback?
Yes: single, double or triple socket cut-outs and holes can be positioned in the made-to-measure configurator. They are made before toughening; a toughened cooker hood splashback can no longer be drilled after delivery.
Toughened glass cooker hood splashbacks: the most common sizes
A cooker hood splashback is generally the width of the cooker hood (most often 60, 90 or 120 cm) and 50 to 75 cm high, between the worktop and the bottom of the cooker hood. Select your width, then your height: each size shows its colours and price. For another size, a special shape or cut-outs, choose the made-to-measure cooker hood splashback.
