Create your made-to-measure toughened glass splashback
A made-to-measure splashback protects the kitchen wall from splashes, grease and heat, while becoming a decorative feature in its own right. At Plakglass, every splashback is cut to your exact dimensions, to the millimetre, with its socket cut-outs, holes and shape, then toughened to withstand impact and heat.
Back-painted in the colour of your choice, printed with a photo, clear, frosted or tinted: for each type of splashback, an online configurator gives you an instant price. All our splashbacks are made from toughened glass, 4 to 19 mm thick.
Back-painted glass splashbacks: every colour
Back-painted glass is toughened glass painted on the back, on the wall side: the colour, seen through the glass, is deep and protected. Our painting workshop produces over 3000 shades from the RAL, NCS and Pantone charts, on gloss or frosted (matt) glass, even for small pieces. White, black and the shades in the Plakglass selection are offered at a better price. A back-painted splashback is bonded to the wall with an adhesive compatible with the paint.

Printed glass splashbacks: your photo or your pattern
Landscape, family photo, graphic pattern, gradient or logo: a printed splashback reproduces your image on low-iron toughened glass using ceramic printing. You upload your image, position it on the glass and preview the result before ordering. It is the way to a truly unique kitchen.
Clear splashbacks: protect without hiding
In clear or low-iron toughened glass, a clear splashback protects paintwork, brick, stone or old tiles while leaving them visible. It is fixed mechanically, with holes and screws with decorative caps, or on a rail: the holes are positioned directly in the configurator. For complete transparency, with no green tinge, choose low-iron glass.
Frosted or tinted splashbacks: translucent or smoked
In frosted glass, the splashback is translucent: it blurs the wall and hides its imperfections, with a satin feel. The low-iron finish is recommended. In tinted glass, it remains transparent but is body-tinted: grey, bronze, green, blue or black, for an elegant smoked effect. Like clear splashbacks, they are fitted on a rail or with holes.

Enamelled glass bathroom splashbacks
For the bathroom, above the vanity unit and behind the washbasin, the splashback is made of toughened enamelled glass: the enamel is fired into the glass during toughening, for a colour that lasts in damp conditions. It is also suitable for outdoor use, a worktop or a table top. It is available made to measure in various colours from the RAL chart.

Edgework, dimensions and measuring
All our splashbacks are processed before toughening: single, double or triple socket cut-outs, holes, fixing holes, notches, bevelled edges, rounded or clipped corners, and many shapes (L-shape, U-shape, arched…). The edges are polished and not sharp. Sizes range from 178 × 80 mm (250 mm diagonal) to 2,900 × 1,800 mm per panel; beyond that, the splashback is made in several panels.
To measure correctly: note the length to be covered and the height between the worktop and the wall units (usually 50 to 75 cm), deduct 2 to 3 mm for the joint, then mark the position of each socket and switch from the left-hand edge and from the worktop. Behind a hob, allow a thickness of at least 6 mm.
Made-to-measure splashbacks: protection and design
Tailored to your dimensions, your style and the layout of your room, a made-to-measure glass splashback offers a flawless finish: with no grout lines, it does not hold grease or dirt and cleans with a wipe of a microfibre cloth. Its smooth surface adds brightness and offers excellent resistance to heat and splashes.
Gloss or matt, plain, printed or clear, it suits every kitchen style, from the most contemporary to the most classic, enhancing your decor while protecting your walls for years to come.
Frequently asked questions about made-to-measure splashbacks
How much does a made-to-measure glass splashback cost?
The price depends on the area, the type of glass (back-painted, printed, clear, frosted, tinted or enamelled), the thickness, the shape and the processing (sockets, holes, cut-outs). Each configurator shows the exact price instantly as you make your choices. In back-painted glass, white, black and the Plakglass selection are offered at a better price.
What thickness should I choose for a glass splashback?
6 mm is the standard thickness: it is suitable behind the sink as well as behind a hob, including gas. 4 or 5 mm is enough for protection away from heat, while 8 mm gives more rigidity to large panels fixed with holes.
How do I fix a glass splashback?
A back-painted, printed or enamelled splashback is bonded to the wall with a suitable adhesive. A clear, frosted or tinted splashback is fixed with holes and screws with decorative caps, or on a rail, as adhesive would be visible through the glass. In every case, leave a 2 to 3 mm gap above the worktop, filled with silicone.
Can a glass splashback go behind a gas hob?
Yes, in toughened glass at least 6 mm thick, which withstands a temperature difference of around 200 °C. Keep at least 10 cm between the flame and the glass, ideally 12 to 15 cm. With induction or ceramic hobs, no particular distance is required.
What standard does a toughened glass splashback meet?
All our splashbacks are made of safety glass toughened to European standard EN 12150: around five times stronger than ordinary glass, it shatters into small, blunt fragments if it breaks. Back-painted glass is also covered by standard EN 16477 on painted glass for interior use.
Which splashback should I choose for a bathroom?
Choose enamelled glass: the enamel, fired into the glass during toughening, is durably resistant to moisture. Back-painted glass is reserved for dry rooms. A clear or frosted splashback, fixed with holes, is also suitable around the washbasin.
Can a splashback be drilled or re-cut after delivery?
No: toughened glass can no longer be cut or drilled without breaking. All cut-outs, sockets and holes must be positioned in the configurator before ordering; they are made in the workshop before toughening.
