Rectangular, triangular or quarter-circle glass shelves
Toughened glass shelves can be used safely in the bathroom, the kitchen or as display cabinet shelves. Their thickness depends on the weight to be supported and on their length.
Glass shelves are available in a wide range of Securit glass: clear, translucent or tinted, so that your shelving blends in perfectly with your décor.
Made-to-measure glass shelves are made in our workshops with short lead times, at the best price, and delivered quickly throughout France.

Frequently asked questions about glass shelves
What thickness should I choose for a glass shelf?
The thickness depends on the length of the shelf, the distance between its brackets and the load:
- 4 mm: short shelf for small, light objects (under a mirror, bathroom);
- 5 to 6 mm: standard wall shelf, bottles, decorative objects, display cabinet shelf;
- 8 mm: long shelf, widely spaced brackets or heavier load (books, crockery).
The longer the shelf and the further apart its brackets, the thicker the glass needs to be. If in doubt, choose the next thickness up: the shelf will bend less.
How much weight can a toughened glass shelf hold?
The permissible load does not depend on the glass alone: it varies with the thickness, the span between brackets, the depth of the shelf and the type of fixing. A toughened glass shelf copes well with a load spread over its whole surface; avoid heavy loads concentrated at one point, especially in the middle or at the end of the shelf. For heavy objects, increase the thickness, bring the brackets closer together and use brackets rated for the load. Toughened glass is around five times more impact-resistant than ordinary glass and, if it breaks, it shatters into small, blunt pieces.
Can a glass shelf be installed in a shower or bathroom?
Yes. Toughened glass is not affected by water or humidity: it does not swell or warp, unlike wood or chipboard. Its flat polished edges (JPP) are not sharp. In a shower, combine it with corrosion-resistant stainless steel or chrome-plated brass brackets, and choose low-iron or frosted glass, on which limescale marks are less visible.
How do I fix a glass shelf to the wall?
The simplest solution is a glass shelf bracket (clamp or console) screwed to the wall: the shelf slides or clamps into it, with no need to drill the glass. Check that the thickness of the shelf matches the thickness accepted by the bracket. If your fixing requires holes in the glass, they must be made before toughening: in that case, order the shelf using the made-to-measure toughened glass configurator, which lets you add holes.
Which shape should I choose for a glass corner shelf?
For a wall corner, choose the Corner shape (triangular shelf) or the Quarter circle shape. For the triangular shelf, enter the length of each side against the walls; for the quarter circle, the radius is the length along each wall. The quarter circle has no point at the front, which makes it more comfortable in a shower or a passageway.
Why are the shelves sold in sets?
The shelves in this configurator are made in sets of 2 to 12 identical shelves (same shape, same dimensions, same glass): the price per shelf goes down as the set gets larger. For a single shelf, or for shelves of different sizes, use the made-to-measure toughened glass configurator.
Clear, low-iron, frosted or tinted glass: which should I choose for a shelf?
Clear glass is the most economical, but its edge is slightly green, which is very noticeable on a shelf. Low-iron glass removes this green tinge and shows off the objects placed on it. Frosted glass, which is matt, hides dust and water marks. Tinted glass in grey, bronze or black (Dark Grey) gives a more decorative look, suited to dark furniture.
