      Made-to-measure glass tops

Clear toughened glass round top on a wooden base, green velvet chairs in a bright dining room

Toughened glass top for tables, desks and furniture

A toughened glass top can be used as a table, desk or coffee table top, or to protect wooden furniture, a worktop or a garden table. Round, square, rectangular or oval, it is cut to your dimensions, edge-worked and then toughened: around five times stronger than ordinary glass, it withstands daily use indoors and outdoors.

      • Glass: clear, low-iron, tinted (grey, bronze, green, blue, black), frosted or enamelled (opaque, coloured)
      • Thicknesses: from 4 to 19 mm
      • Dimensions: up to 2900 x 1800 mm, diameter up to 1800 mm
      • Edges: flat polished edge, non-sharp; square, rounded or clipped corners

A made-to-measure glass top, configured online

In our configurators, you choose the type of glass, the thickness, the shape and the edge and corner finish, and you position any internal cut-outs or holes. With every change, the price of the top is recalculated and shown above its plan; information points guide you at each step.

Low-iron glass, almost colourless, shows off a wooden or metal base; tinted glass gives a smoked look, frosted glass a satin finish, and enamelled glass an opaque top in the colour of your choice, with the colour fired into the glass. Once configured, your top is made to your measurements.

      Coffee table8 mm minimum
Table or desk on legs or a frame10, 12 or 15 mm depending on the area

      Worktop protection6 or 8 mm

Glass tops for tables, desks or worktops

Table tops: the glass sheet sits as a table top on legs or a suitable frame, or as an overlay on a wooden or stone table, protecting it from stains and scratches. For a round or oval table or a barrel, use the round glass and curved shapes configurator.

Desk tops: whether protecting a desk or laid on trestles as a top, frosted glass reduces reflections from lighting. Worktop protection: a top cut to your dimensions protects the worktop from moisture and keeps its surface intact.

The thickness depends on the area and the weight it bears, not on the glass finish: a top on legs needs to be thicker than a protective sheet laid flat.

How a glass top is made

      1. The top is cut to the chosen size from a large sheet of glass.
      2. It is processed on a CNC machining centre according to your options: corners, cut-outs, holes.
      3. All edges are polished, smooth and not sharp.
      4. The glass goes through the toughening furnace, which makes it resistant to impact and temperature changes.
      5. The top is inspected, packed in packaging suited to its size and weight, then dispatched.

Other projects using a glass top

Glass panels can also be used to make a room divider, glass shelves, a floor protection plate under a stove, wall protection or a kitchen splashback. For uses with a risk of falling or heavy loads, choose laminated toughened glass.

Frequently asked questions about made-to-measure glass tops

What thickness should I choose for a glass top?

4 or 6 mm to protect furniture, 6 or 8 mm as an overlay on a wooden table, 8 mm minimum for a coffee table, and 10, 12 or 15 mm for a top on legs or a frame, depending on its area. The thickness depends on the area and the weight it bears, not on the glass finish.

What are the maximum dimensions for a made-to-measure glass top?

Up to 2900 x 1800 mm for a rectangular top and 1800 mm in diameter for a round top. Corners can be square, rounded or clipped, and cut-outs or holes can be added before toughening.

Which glass should I choose for a top on a pedestal?

A top resting on legs or a frame must be made of toughened glass 10, 12 or 15 mm thick, depending on its area and the spacing of the supports. As for the finish, clear glass is the most economical, with a slight green tint on the edge; low-iron glass, almost colourless, shows off the base. Tinted glass gives a smoked look, frosted glass a satin, reflection-free finish, and enamelled glass an opaque coloured top, with the colour fired into the glass, which hides the frame.

Can a glass top be used outdoors on a garden table?

Yes: toughened glass withstands rain, frost and UV. Choose 6 or 8 mm to protect an existing table, thicker for a top resting directly on a frame, and make sure the top sits flat on its supports.

Can a toughened glass top be drilled or re-cut?

No: once toughened, glass can no longer be cut or drilled. A parasol hole, notches or fixing holes are positioned in the configurator and made before toughening.

How is the glass top delivered?

Each top is inspected and then dispatched in packaging suited to its size and weight, for safe delivery anywhere in mainland France, Belgium and Luxembourg.

How do I clean a glass top?

Like any glazing: a glass cleaner or soapy water and a microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive sponges and strong solvents.

What standard does a toughened glass top meet?

The top is made of safety glass toughened to European standard EN 12150: around five times stronger than ordinary glass, it shatters into small, blunt fragments if it breaks. It must not be used where there is a risk of falling: laminated glass is required in that case.
