Made-to-measure glass panes: toughened glass cut to size

Your glass cut to your measurements
Need a pane for an interior door, glazing for a glass partition, a shelf or a table top? Plakglass cuts your glass to your exact dimensions, finishes the edges, makes the holes and notches, then toughens it.
Toughened glass is the recommended glazing for all indoor uses: around five times more impact-resistant than ordinary glass, it shatters into small, blunt fragments if it breaks.

Replacing interior glass
Cut to your dimensions, our clear, low-iron, frosted, patterned or smoked panes replace the glass in an interior door, a sliding door, an internal window or a partition. Measure the rebate or the old glass to the millimetre and state the thickness you need: our glass thickness guide helps you choose.
Table tops, shelves and floor plates
A damaged table top, a coffee table that needs protecting, a desk to dress up: toughened glass cut to your measurements, with polished edges, gives furniture a new lease of life. For a coloured top, choose enamelled glass, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
Shelves can be configured in any shape, from rectangles to quarter circles, arches or curves. Under a wood-burning stove or in front of a fireplace, a toughened glass floor plate at least 6 mm thick protects the floor from heat and embers.
Kitchen, bathroom and shower
In the kitchen, a back-painted glass splashback protects the wall from splashes and comes in many colours; an enamelled glass worktop adds colour and originality.
In the bathroom, toughened glass provides safety; to preserve privacy, patterned glass or acid-etched frosted glass lets the light through while blurring shapes. For the shower, 8 or 10 mm glass is available in clear, low-iron or tinted black, grey or bronze, with an anti-limescale treatment that makes cleaning easier.
Glass partitions and balustrades
Plakglass makes wooden glass partitions and aluminium glass partitions supplied in kit form with 8 mm glazing, and replaces the panes of your existing glass partition.
For a balustrade, laminated toughened glass can be ordered from 44.2 to 1010.4, in clear, frosted or tinted grey, bronze, green or blue.
Frequently asked questions about made-to-measure glass
How do I measure a replacement pane?
Measure the width and height of the opening to the millimetre, at several points, and use the smallest value. For a pane fitted in a rebate, deduct the fitting clearance specified by the joinery manufacturer.
What thickness should I choose for interior glass?
4 or 5 mm for a small door or furniture pane, 6 mm for a glazed door or display cabinet, 8 mm for a glass partition, room divider or shower screen.
Why choose toughened glass?
It is around five times more resistant to impact and temperature changes than ordinary glass and, if it breaks, it shatters into small, blunt fragments.
Can a toughened pane be re-cut?
No: toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled. All cut-outs, notches and holes are made before toughening, according to the dimensions in your order.
What glass should I use for a bathroom window?
A translucent toughened glass: patterned or frosted. It lets the light through while preserving privacy.
Do your toughened panes meet a standard?
Yes, our panes are toughened to standard EN 12150 for thermally toughened safety glass. Laminated glass meets standard EN 14449.
