Glass sliding door kit on a track

The sliding system kit offered by Plakglass for interior sliding doors on a track, wall-mounted or ceiling-hung, combines simplicity, design and functionality. A made-to-measure sliding glass door, fitted with a handle and soft-close dampers, that blends into the background when open: the wall remains visible and the track is discreet. The kit is complete: track and made-to-measure glass panel.

      Sliding door system

A sliding glass door can be fitted in any room of the house and adds a decorative touch without losing light. Choose clear, tinted or frosted toughened glass depending on whether or not you want to see through it, while keeping light flowing between your rooms. Unlike a pocket door, this system requires no major building work, and the glass door is very discreet when open.

      The advantages of made-to-measure glass

Compared with a wooden door, the gain in light is obvious, as is the feeling of space, even with the door closed, with clear or frosted glass. An open-plan kitchen or one with a workshop-style glass partition can thus be separated from the living room without losing light, and remain completely open when the door is slid along the wall.

      Easy assembly

Very easy to assemble, the brushed anodised aluminium track (aluminium or black finish) always comes with a soft-close damper for opening and closing. The glass requires no machining other than the holes for the handle, which makes for a significant saving. Ceiling-mounted or wall-mounted track: both options are offered below, made to your measurements.

The size of the toughened glass is calculated automatically from your opening: enter it in the configurator below.

A glass door 8 or 10 mm thick

8 mm toughened glass can be up to 4 m², and 10 mm glass up to 3 m², which covers virtually all openings and heights. You choose the thickness and the finish: clear or low-iron, frosted, grey or bronze tinted, black or green. With clear or low-iron glass, an anti-limescale treatment is offered for bathrooms. For a double door, two systems are needed: each kit contains the soft-close dampers for a single door leaf.

Assembly and adjustments are very simple: heights, soft-close and door stop positions are adjusted with the structure open, and the finishing cover is only fitted at the end. The brushed aluminium or black finish of the track gives a very stylish door, with no visible mechanism.

Several handles are available, in different sizes, shapes and finishes (stainless steel, black…). The kit does not include a lock or any locking mechanism. All accessories are included: track, roller carriages, soft-close dampers, floor guide and finishing covers. Installation is quick and easy for a DIYer.

The main uses of a wall-mounted or ceiling-hung sliding door

      • Interior glass door to separate two rooms and make it easier to move around.
      • Tinted or frosted glass door for a bedroom: a stylish divider.
      • Wardrobe or walk-in wardrobe door, to save space and ease circulation.
      • Frosted glass door (matt, satin) for a more private bathroom.

Made-to-measure sliding door: a solution for every space

A made-to-measure sliding glass door adapts to your dimensions, your constraints and your style. It optimises circulation while bringing light and a modern feel. Every detail can be customised: type of glass, finishes, handle and guide system.

      Frosted glass sliding door

Frosted glass combines privacy with brightness: its satin finish diffuses light while blocking the direct view. It is the ideal option for a bedroom, bathroom or study. Frosted glass is translucent, strong and easy to look after.

      Tinted glass sliding door

Tinted glass (grey, bronze, black or green) adds a designer touch while retaining transparency. The tint slightly softens the light and strikes a balance between brightness and discretion. Black tinted glass, very much on trend, reduces transparency further.

Sliding door with ceiling or wall track

The track ensures smooth, silent opening, ideal where a hinged door is not possible. It is available in an aluminium or black finish and can be cut to the required length.

      Wall-mounted sliding door

The track is fixed directly to the wall, above the opening: installation is quick, with no partition work, and the door slides along the wall to leave the doorway completely clear.

      Ceiling-hung sliding door

The ceiling-mounted track bears the full weight of the panel: only a small, discreet guide is fitted on the floor, for a minimalist look and a floor that is easy to clean. The door slides silently and effortlessly.

      Clear sliding door

To structure a space without losing light, preferably choose low-iron glass, the most transparent. It can open onto a living room, separate a study or close off a hallway, in new builds and renovations alike.

      Made-to-measure sliding door kit

The sliding door kit, with glass and a track for ceiling or wall mounting, quickly transforms an interior without major building work. Each kit includes a made-to-measure toughened glass door and the complete guide system, designed to be easy to assemble and to ensure smooth, silent sliding.

      Home delivery

The door is delivered as a kit, in a box cut to the size of the glass and reinforced with foam and wood for transport. As the track systems are in stock, only the glass manufacturing time counts towards the stated lead time.

Frequently asked questions about sliding glass doors

What is the maximum size for a sliding glass door?

The configurator accepts an opening from 650 to 1,400 mm wide. The glass area is limited to 4 m² in 8 mm and 3 m² in 10 mm, which covers virtually all interior doors. The size of the glass is calculated automatically from the dimensions of your opening.

Ceiling-mounted or wall-mounted track: which should I choose?

When wall-mounted, the track is fixed to the wall above the opening: this is the most common solution, with no building work. When ceiling-mounted, the track is suspended and the door slides in front of the opening; this is ideal when there is no space above the opening or for high ceilings. In both cases, only a small guide is fitted on the floor.

Do I need 8 or 10 mm glass?

8 mm is suitable for most interior doors and is lighter to handle. 10 mm gives a stiffer, more substantial panel, popular for large doors. The weight of the glass is shown in the configurator: around 20 kg per m² in 8 mm and 25 kg per m² in 10 mm.

Can I have a double sliding glass door?

Yes, with two kits: each system contains the soft-close dampers for a single door leaf. Configure each door separately, using the dimensions of half the opening.

Can the sliding glass door be locked?

No, the kit does not include a lock or any locking mechanism. It is intended to separate living areas, a kitchen, a walk-in wardrobe or a bathroom, with a recessed round handle (full opening) or a bar handle.

Is the glass in a sliding door safe?

Yes. The panel is made of toughened safety glass complying with European standard EN 12150: it is around five times more impact-resistant than ordinary glass and, if it breaks, it shatters into small, blunt pieces. The edges are flat polished, not sharp, and the holes for the handle are made before toughening.
